Superwoman

Please don’t call me Superwoman. I know you mean well. You all do. But I’ve been hearing it for far too long, and staying silent.

“I don’t know how you do it,” you said, and I just smiled and said nothing. Oh, so many times. I’ve heard it, stayed silent. No More. You don’t know how I do it? Neither do I. I just do. Day after day, week after week. I do. I do it because I have no choice.

I have no special powers. I do what any normal person would do. Telling me I’m Superwoman makes me feel like you think I’m doing something you couldn’t do. It makes me feel DIFFERENT. And I’m not different. I’ve adjusted to my load.

You could do it. Thank God you don’t have to. But don’t tell me, don’t tell yourself, that I’m doing something you could never do. I wasn’t born this strong. I didn’t come with any super powers. This strength, this patience, I learned. I had to.
